17.05.2019 PRIEN (GERMANY), DUSSELDORF (GERMANY) AND NEDERWEERT (THE NETHERLANDS) Pyrolytec GmbH as developer, MMEC Mannesmann GmbH (MMEC) as major Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor and Black Bear Carbon as technology provider, recently announced a strategic partnership to develop a large production plant in Bitterfeld, Germany.
Pyrolytec GmbH (Germany) is a rCB plant-developer and will act as the operating company for the targeted Bitterfeld-project and will develop the first continuously operating large industrial rCB plant in Germany with a planned throughput capacity of 40,000 tons of end-of-life tires per annum. Pyrolytec together with MMEC is currently working with the authorities on permitting, targeting the Bitterfeld-Wolfen Chemical Park. This is the first publicly announced project after MMEC Mannesmann and Black Bear signed a partnership agreement earlier this month.
MMEC Mannesmann (Germany) is well known for executing complex projects in the oil, gas, refining, chemical and renewables industries. The German General Contractor carries key expertise in executing turnkey projects starting from early project developments, feasibility studies, conceptual, basic and front-end engineering design up to detail design, procurement and construction.
Black Bear (The Netherlands) is the leading company in recovering high quality carbon black (rCB) from end-of-life tires. Black Bear’s rCB has been certified as the world’s first Cradle-to-Cradle™ certified Carbon Black. Having developed and proven a unique carbonization process to transform used tires into valuable resources, today Black Bear’s rCB is used as a substitute for furnace carbon black in tires, technical rubber goods, plastics, coatings, plastics and inks. Earlier this year, Black Bear was named as a Global Cleantech Top 100 company.
Every year, more than 2 billion tires reach the end of their lives. By developing a first large industrial continuous plant in Germany, Pyrolytec is making a significant contribution in solving the waste tire problem and preserving the valuable resources.
